3M Discloses First Dual-Ended Combat Arms Earplugs (CAEv2) Lawsuit in 2018 Annual Report
On February 7, 2019, 3M released its 2018 Annual Report.
In the last footnote of the “Note 16. Commitments and Contingencies” section of 3M’s 2018 Annual Report, the company disclosed the first lawsuit filed in the San Bernardino Superior Court in California alleging injuries sustained while serving in the military while wearing 3M’s Dual-Ended Combat Arms Earplugs.
“The plaintiff asserts claims of product liability and fraudulent misrepresentation and concealment. The plaintiff seeks various damages, including medical and related expenses, loss of income, and punitive damages. In 2019, approximately 26 other lawsuits have been filed against 3M by former or current military personnel in various state and federal courts in California, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, Florida, and the District of Columbia making similar allegations.”
